Course description
EFL - General English Elementary: This course is an elementary level general English course which will develop you reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in English in addition to grammar and pronunciation. This is a bespoke course so the tutor will cover topics based on your interests and needs. How much homework will I need to do outside of class?
Your teacher will set homework each week for you. It is important that you complete the homework? Students who do homework make better progress.
What will happen if I miss a class?
Please inform your teacher if you are unable to attend a class. Students are expected to attend at least 90% of their classes.
When will exams take place?
Your teacher will advise you when they are.
Do I need any special equipment?
Please bring an English/English dictionary, a pen and a folder to keep your work in.
What books do I need?
Your teacher will tell you. What software do I need?
Your teacher will show you useful websites and you can use the computers in the Learning Centres.
Is there any tutorial support?
Your teacher will meet with you individually at least once a term to help you improve areas of weakness.
If you feel you need any further support, you can speak to your tutor. Does the class include a break?
Classes include a 10-15 minute comfort break. Is there a minimum age? Minimum age is 16. When are the classes held? Classes are held during term time only. You can find more information about this in the Terms Dates section. How big are the classes? Class sizes are a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 19 (depending on classroom size).

Suitability - Who should attend?
You are an elementary level user of English (ESOL Level E2) or overall band grade 3-4 in IELTS (English Language Testing System). You have very basic skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in English and can use communication in your own field. You can cope with overall meaning in most situations although you are likely to make many mistakes. You are not yet able to use complex language. You must attend an Advice and Guidance session to assess your level of English.
