What will I learn?
This is an introduction to filmmaking. On this course you will learn how to record video with a DSLR camera, use a tripod and make basic edits with the editing software Adobe Premiere. The course is ideal for those with little or no experience or those wishing to brush up on their skills. It could act as a platform to take on more ambitious projects or further filmmaking courses. This intensive weekend course will aim to provide you with the practical and theoretical knowledge of all aspects of film production. From a script submitted by and selected by members of the group, a short narrative film will be scripted, produced, shot and edited using DSLR cameras and Adobe Premiere Pro. Course outcomes: • You will learn and use short film scriptwriting techniques • You will come to understand basic film making grammar • You will discover and utilise the fundamentals of DSLR filmmaking • You will shoot a film sequence according to schedule • You will edit footage using Adobe Premiere Pro • You will learn to evaluate the process
What do I need to know?
Some knowledge of DSLR cameras and/or digital editing programmes is beneficial, though not essential. Basic ICT skills are required for this course. You will need to be able to: • Open and close applications • Name and save files • Create new folders • Use copy and paste commands
