Course description

Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Diploma, Level 2:

This one-year course is aimed at enthusiastic school leavers who are looking for a career in the Motor Sport or Motor Vehicle Industry. Some degree of mechanical experience would be desirable. The course covers the technical needs of today’s motorsport industry, including the diagnosis of non-complex system faults. It provides essential knowledge for the specialist group of competition maintenance and repair technicians. It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following: Carrying out Routine Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance; Removing and Replacing: Engine Units and Components; Electrical Auxiliary Units and Components; Chassis Units and Components. Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working on competition vehicles.

You will undertake IMI practical assessments in our motor vehicle workshop, plus online multiple-choice testing and assignments. Three weeks are set aside purely for the purpose of enrichment. In addition to this, trips related to the core programme may be organised, to places such as Santa Pod Raceway. There is usually no or minimal cost for any of these activities. On completion of this course successful learners may choose to look for employment in the Motor Sport or Automotive industry, or progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Motorsport.
