Course description:
Colloquial Arabic courses are designed to enable communication with all native Arabic speakers and, in particular, speakers living in the Middle Eastern and North African region of your choice. This programme is designed to provide learners with an introduction to Arabic communicative language and culture, and will expand the understanding of localised vocabulary and customs through authentic source materials and contexts. Learning colloquial Arabic language through structures and idioms, the programme content is structured around general language and cultural contexts in subjects ranging from literature and media to other religions and cultures to politics and the economy to health and social life. Our experienced teaching staff use syllabi and materials specifically designed and developed for Sharek Centre, including newspaper articles, magazine features, YouTube videos, movies and field projects to help students develop Arabic language skills applicable to the MENA region of their choice. Designed to be engaging and social through shared dialogue and mutual exchange, Sharek Centre courses are effective and pragmatic. Learners have the opportunity to practise colloquial Arabic through discussions, debates and conversation activities, such as role-play, pair-work and simulation. The course also includes language, culture and values analyses components. We place emphasis on personalised attention to foster students that are able to communicate effectively with Arabic speakers.
