Psychology Topics #2: Stress & Change with Keith Rice: This is one of two psychology topics courses this year which build on the Introductory course, �Understanding Yourself and Others�. It provides a more in-depth approach to helping you explore the specific interests under discussion or build knowledge of psychology and behavioural sciences. Attendance on the introductory course is helpful, but not essential, as recaps and additional study material will be provided.Just about everybody experiences stress in modern life. It is one of the biggest causes of absenteeism at work and contributes to poor health and even death. Yet it is misunderstood and very often poorly managed. The Stress sessions divide the experience of stress in to its biological and cognitive components. The course considers various causal factors for stress and the degree of gender differences in experiencing stress. There are also some practical suggestions for how to manage stress and information on the benefits & risks of usingprescription drugs.Change, whether in your personal life or your work life, is often a cause of major stress. The Change sessions consider factors which influence change from the individual/micro-level to the organisational/macro-level. Models are provided to help you understand and monitor change processes at all levels. Workshop participants can use these models to gain insight in to their own experiences of change.Discounts are available for multiple bookings of this course.
