Health & Safety Online – Food Safety & Hygiene Level 1
Somerset Skills & Learning CIC is pleased to offer a series of online courses which are available for employers who need to train their staff. These short structured courses will enable employers to make the work place safer and meet the legal requirements.
It's Important that anyone who works where food is made, prepared or sold has a good understanding of food hygiene, even if they do not handle food. This Food Safety and Hygiene program is a basic training course for anyone who works in the food safety industry.

Training Course Content
Section 1: Food Hazards and Food Poisoning
This section gives the user an understanding of what food poisoning is and how food can become contaminated and more importantly; how to avoid it.
Section 2: Personal Hygiene
This sections looks at the importance of good personal hygiene and the procedures to follow to avoid contamination of food.
Section 3: Cleanliness and Cross-Contamination
Covers the importance of cleanliness in the workplace and safe working practices for keeping surface, tools and equipment clean. It also gives guidance on the types of bacteria and how they are spread which will give the delegate a detailed understanding of what to do and what not to do in the workplace.
Test: This is a multiple choice test that demonstrates that the candidate has gained the knowledge and skills they need to set up their workstations and to work safely.
