Health & Safety Online – Manual Handling
Somerset Skills & Learning CIC is pleased to offer a series of online courses which are available for employers who need to train their staff. These short structured courses will enable employers to make the work place safer and meet the legal requirements.
The Manual Handling training programme teaches your employees all they need to know about safe Manual Handling, including lifting techniques, LITE and why safe Manual Handling is so important to their everyday health.

Training Course Content
Section 1: You and Your Back
This section gives the delegate an understanding on how their back works and how poor lifting techniques affect the back. This knowledge will help them understand the importance of looking after their back and using safe lifting techniques.
Section 2: Poor Manual Handling
This section gives the delegate information and demonstrations of poor lifting techniques and what to avoid to protect them from back injury.
Section 3: Manual Handling
This section gives step by step guidance on safe lifting techniques for use in future to prevent injury to their back.
Section 4: Conclusion
A recap of the previous sections and also shows delegates how safe lifting practices can relate to work and home life with the aim to prevent illness and injury to their backs from lifting.
Test: This is a multiple choice test that demonstrates that the candidate has gained the knowledge and skills they need to safely carry out lifting tasks.
