Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning

This course is aimed at those who would like to work as a learning support assistant or teaching assistant in a school or further education setting. Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning will give you an understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to support learners in the classroom.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This course is aimed at those who would like to work as a learning support assistant in a school or further education setting. It will give you an understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to support learners in the classroom.

There are no formal qualifications required to undertake this course. Although we would recommend that you have completed a Level 2 course before starting a Level 3. To secure your place, please return the completed application form (found on the course webpage on the Step Into Learning website). After which, we will send you an assessment to complete online. Following completion of the online assessment, we will either be in touch if we have any questions or we will give you access to the online portal so that you can begin your qualification. You will be allocated a tutor who will be able to support you if you have any questions.

Course delivery details

This course is delivered online and is self paced. You will be allocated a tutor should you have any questions or need any support as you complete your qualification.

Advanced Learner Loans are here to help any learner aged 19+ to cover course fees for Level 3 and above, so you don’t have to worry about paying for your course upfront. There is no means of testing or formal credit check, and once you are approved, your fees are paid directly to us. You only need to start paying back the loan once you find full-time employment and earn an income over the UK repayment threshold. To qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan you must:

  • Be aged 19 or over at the start of your course
  • Be a resident in the UK for three years
  • Have not previously had a loan to do the same course (including any Access to HE course), subject, or level and be studying a course at Level 3 or above

Continuing Studies

You may choose to start a new role as a teaching assistant, use your skills in your current role or progress onto a higher level qualification. You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning which offers an additional 5 units, detailed below:

  • Unit 12: Support children and young people’s speech, language and communication
  • Unit 13: Understand how to support bilingual learners
  • Unit 14:Understand how to support learning of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Unit 15: Support children and young people during transitions
  • Unit 16: Support the role of play, leisure and extra-curricular activities for children and young people
