Course description

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering:

This one-year course is designed for young people wishing to pursue a career in engineering that will lead to employment. It is a good starting point if you have just left school and want to gain engineering skills that will help you secure employment. You will study a range of units that will give you the skills to work in engineering such as electronics, hydraulics, turning, milling and health and safety. You will also be using advanced equipment and gaining skills that will help develop you into a modern and advanced engineer.

Apart from the external examinations and online tests, all other units are assessed by observation, short answer tests and skills based assessments recorded in a portfolio of evidence. You will go on trips to places like London, Blackpool, Coventry Motor Museum, RAF Cosford, Dovedale, Malvern Hills, and you will get the chance to do go-karting, mountain biking, golfing, table tennis, and self-defence. Guest speakers from industry are frequently invited to the college and there are also visits to local companies and engineering exhibitions. You can apply for an apprenticeship or secure employment in the engineering sector.
