Yoga: Different forms and courses

Different schools of yoga have different methods of yoga practices. The professionals looking to make a career in yoga instruction specialise in one of these and obtain a corresponding certification in such field. Some of the most common specialisations that people choose from are the following:

  • Hatha yoga: more of slow and gentle movements
  • Vinyasa yoga: a popular yoga style in America
  • Kundalini yoga:  more intense form of yoga
  • Ashtanga yoga: commonly known as power yoga
  • Jivamukti yoga: it’s more of a musical twist to yoga

Different training schools provide certifications to yoga instructors specialising in various forms and offer different levels of degrees in order for one to earn the license to train others. These yoga courses usually vary in duration. Some only last for a few months while others for two years before degree certificates are issued. These usually depend on one’s experience and pre-attained knowledge in yoga. In other words, there are different certifications for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners.

Yoga Course Format

Most of the yoga courses are offered in traditional classroom settings with small groups of people to teach in-depth forms of yoga and practices. The training seeks to teach the yoga practitioners several things including:
