Course description

If you are a registered practitioner with a passion for pain management then this module will provide you with an excellent grounding in the importance of assessment plus the physiological and pharmacological aspects of pain. Improving your understanding will help your practice further and make a difference to those in your care.

BCU is one of only a handful of universities to provide a dedicated pathway addressing pain management.

What's covered in the course?

Pain does not discriminate and therefore all ages and all walks of life are effected. For pain to be adequately addressed health practitioners need to have appropriate knowledge and understanding relating to pain and its management and this module can help.

When you have successfully passed this module you will have an improved understanding of pain assessment and physiology. It will also enhance your level of evidence based pharmacological practice within the specialised area of pain management and it will enable you to apply theory into practice in the treatment of patients in pain to ensure a safe and effective delivery of care.

You will experience taught sessions, group discussions, online resources and specialised guest lecturers from clinical practice. You will also have the guidance of the pathway leader who has over 20 years of pain management experience.

You will be based at city South campus and benefit from new and improved facilities including open learning spaces and a large clinically focused library.
