Course description
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Theatrical and Media Make-up provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or progression within the makeup artistry within Film, TV, theatre and media makeup.
This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16. A well-groomed and professional appearance is essential as you will be working with the public and need to present a professional image. Great importance is also placed on reliability requiring regular attendance and punctuality. You will be advised of any materials you will need to purchase for your course when you attend the Welcome Event/Progression interview. This qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the within Film, TV, theatre and media makeup industry.
The programme opens up career opportunities as a hair and makeup artist either working in fashion, television or other media areas, usually working freelance. There are also opportunities available for progression onto Higher Education and further study either at HNC, HND or degree level, depending on prior experience and qualifications.
Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a trainee Make-up Artist working in film TV and/or theatre.

Trainee Makeup artist/wig specialist in film/TV or theatre
Make-up designer
There will be optional extra-curricular activities at an additional cost. These may include visits to course appropriate venues, professional workshops and residential visits.
Kit and Uniform - You will need to purchase a kit and uniform before the start of the programme, the Level 3 mandatory kit and uniform will cost around £800 subject to change slightly with inflation. There is also up to £100 of optional extra’s and further details will be given to you at the Welcome Event.
Work placement in the commercial environment is part of your course, which helps you to develop real life working skills and employability.

Suitability - Who should attend?
As with all our programmes, this course includes tutorial sessions and individual reviews, giving you individual time with your personal tutor. You may also be required to study and achieve further qualifications in English and Maths if you have not already attained a satisfactory grade in these subjects
