Course description
Developing a Strategic Asset Management Plan
SAMP (Strategic Asset Management Planning) is key to the management of the whole life cycle management of any asset from Planning, Building, Operating and through to disposal. It is a “whole system” “whole life-cycle” approach to Asset Management and its development involves all roles within the organization. It is important to note that it is not a Policy nor a Project but is a key piece of any organizational strategy. The success of any organization is usually highly dependent on the condition, capability and performance of its assets and an enabler to this success is the development of a robust SAMP.
The term SAMP was developed in the ISO 55000 standard for Asset Management and the IAM has recently updated their guidebook “Developing and Maintaining a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP). The SAMP is used to convert the objectives and policies of an organization into specific Asset Management objectives that supports and facilitates the formation of a high-level, long-term action plan for their delivery.
The module is easily accessible, takes approximately 40 minutes to complete in one go or learners can stop and start as they wish. It is recommended, although not essential, that the Certificate Course should be completed prior to completing this SAMP module.
