Course description

This course will help you to develop new ways of creating value from the application of circular economy thinking, design and business models.

This course will introduce you to multiple models of circular innovation to help achieve process efficiencies across various business functions. You will also be supported in your development of alternative circular ecosystem designs, business models and value propositions for future development in your business.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The course is suitable for all creative and motivated individuals, innovators, entrepreneurs, managers, function and business leaders with an interest in developing new ecosystem value propositions from opportunities presented by the transition towards a circular economy. No previous experience of Circular Innovation is necessary.

What you will learn

The objective of this short course is to help you to explore the feasibility of Circular Ecosystems and Business Models and to enable its senior managers to co-create a viable roadmap for the implementation of these in the business. Students will be divided into functional teams, with each team working on one of the five alternative Circular Business Models.

The course is designed to encourage collaboration between students, through workshop activities and group work.

Training Course Content

Course structure

Day 1 (8 hours)

  • Icebreaker: Perspectives Games (30 mins)
  • Introduction to Corporate Sustainability and Sustainable Innovation (1.5 hour)
  • Industry Problems and Process Efficiencies (1 hour)
  • Introduction to Circular Economy (1 hour)
  • Circular Economy and Innovation (1 hour)
  • Exploring Sustainable and Circular Scenarios (3 hours) 

Day 2 (8 hours)

  • Design for Circular Economy (1 hour)
  • Circular Economy and Industry 4.0 / 5.0 (1 hour)
  • Circular Ecosystems and Business Models (1 hour)
  • Circular Ecosystem and Business Model Innovation Workshop (3 hours)
  • Circular Economy in Textile industry: case studies (2 hours)

Day 3 (Half day)

  • Presentations and Feedback
  • Wrap-up and Reflections
