Course description
This part time masters course is designed for:
- those who work in strategic roles in any area of the new Children's Workforce; and
- graduates wishing to develop careers in this area.
It offers a rigorous academic curriculum, including training in research methodology that will enable you to undertake a substantial piece of independent research rooted in your own or others' professional experience. The course is taught by a multi-professional agency team and covers all aspects of interprofessional practice.
- We offer this two-year, work-based course part-time, with intensive weekend attendance patterns. It is designed to facilitate an integrated workforce that can communicate and work effectively across boundaries of health, education, business, family law, the youth justice system and health social care.
- It aims to meet the needs of practitioners working with children, families and young people in any profession.
- The course is suitable for people who work with children, young people and families. It is underpinned by the Every Child Matters (2004) agenda and The Common Core of Skills and Knowledge (2005) and has been developed in collaboration with strategic managers and practitioners in Local Authorities and the private, voluntary, maintained, independent and third sectors.
- The course is delivered by an interdisciplinary and multi-professional team making full use of the different professional experiences and skills of students.
- It can lead to employment directly within children's services or in children's centres or can be used to access new and emerging roles in the children's workforce.
- The School of Education at Kingston University is consistently rated among the top education departments in the country by the Guardian UK University league tables.
- We design our courses in collaboration with local authorities, schools, colleges and other educational organisations. This ensures you will keep up to date with the latest developments and initiatives.
What will you study?
