- The business and the world are changing each other in an interactive manner. The transformation resulting from this interaction is not only continuous, but also occurs much faster than in the past.
- We observe that thresholds that determine the epochs in history are being transpassed more and more quickly thanks to revolutionary technologies. Adapting to this pace is becoming increasingly challenging for both individuals and corporations.
- On the other hand, fundamental knowledge and methods that can be described as timeless continue to exist defiantly in our lives, even if their names or fields of application alter in time.
- In this course, the period from the first industrial revolution to the post-fourth industrial revolution we are in today will be discussed, and the most important effects of these revolutions on business and the world will be analyzed.
- A fundamental understanding of the concepts and technologies which are on the agenda especially in the digital age will be developed, including but not limited to internet of things (IoT), smart factory, blockchain and cryptocurrency, 3D printers, artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML), big data and advanced analytics, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).
- Moreover, we will discuss how near-future applications of timeless methods might evolve, as well. We will examine how we need to shape both our individual knowledge and skill sets as well as the capability sets of our organizations not just to be prepared for the revolution of the future, but also to lead the next revolution.
