The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is the most widely recognised health and safety qualification of its kind. The course gives learners everything they need know and do to make their workplace safer.
By studying this course via eLearning Extra you get all the flexibility of eLearning, but with the structured support that a tutor provides via a series of scheduled webinars. The webinars take place virtually and are designed so that you can ask questions, share ideas and best practice, and participate in live discussions. Additionally, students can send work completed during the course to a tutor, via admin, for feedback.
Webinar attendance significantly supports learners in preparing for open book examinations. Students who study via eLearning Extra typically complete courses quicker and with better results.
There are eight 2-hour live webinars held for the NEBOSH National General Certificate. Webinars are held frequently and you can register for sessions at your convenience. All previous webinars are recorded so you can watch these on-demand.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The course is suitable for safety managers, line managers, supervisors, and anybody with safety management responsibilities. It’s also perfect for those embarking on a health and safety career and can lead to further qualifications such as the NEBOSH National Diploma, the flagship NEBOSH qualification.
There are no mandatory qualification entry requirements for this qualification; however, learners should consider that this is a professional-level qualification. NEBOSH strongly recommends that learners studying the NEBOSH Certificate have a suitable standard of English to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Delegates will achieve the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety upon completing both units.
The qualification is accredited by the Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) as well as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH, with appropriate experience.

- Element 8: General workplace issues
- Element 9: Work equipment
- Element 10: Fire
- Element 11: Electricity

The course will involves a minimum of 68 taught hours and approximately 40 hours of private study and background reading.
