About the course
The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Services Management aims to develop essential management practice and knowledge required by managers in the public services. The course is designed for public service managers who already have a degree and / or other professional qualifications at degree level or above. This course emphasises and supports joint development opportunities to facilitate interagency working. It also provides an arena for networking with like-minded professionals in the public service field who can inform practice through shared experiences.
Course content
The course content has been developed to provide an up-to-date and relevant insight into specific areas of public service management directly applicable to the work place.
Modules
- Module One - Public Policy and the Theory and Practice of Public Management
- Module Two - Performance Measurement, Management and Monitoring
- Module Three - Financial Control and Financial Systems
Entry requirements
This course is designed for public service managers who already have a degree and / or professional qualifications at degree level or above. Ideally, it's aimed at:
- participants who are in their first managerial role or preparing for more senior roles
- experienced managers who have no specific management qualifications
- practitioners who do have previous management training or management qualifications at degree level or lower, who wish to study core public service management topics in depth.
Course length
Eight months, part-time, beginning in September.
