Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
If you want to start a career in a mental health service a Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health will support you by increasing your understanding of mental health and mental well-being. You will gain an in depth knowledge and understanding of mental health.
This course will provide you with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health issues including legislation, services and public attitudes and how these have changed. Consequently, you will learn how to support mental well-being at different stages of life as well as looking at treatment options. This course could be for you if you work in a counselling role, teaching or in healthcare or social care.

Suitability - Who should attend?
There are no formal qualifications required to undertake this course. Although we would recommend that you have completed a Level 2 course before starting a Level 3. To secure your place, please return the completed application form (which can be found on the course webpage on the Step Into Learning website). After which, we will send you an assessment to complete online. Following completion of the online assessment, we will either be in touch if we have any questions or we will give you access to the online portal so that you can begin your qualification. You will be allocated a tutor who will be able to support you if you have any questions.

Training Course Content
You will complete 5 mandatory units:
- Unit 01: Understanding the context of mental health and wellbeing
- Unit 02: Promotion of mental health and wellbeing
- Unit 03: Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences
- Unit 04: Understanding mental ill health
- Unit 05: Working in mental health
Course delivery details
This course is delivered online and is self paced. You will be allocated a tutor should you have any questions or need any support as you complete your qualification.
