Course description
The Project Manager as Coach & Mentor
Working in today’s socially complex workplace is more challenging than ever before. Every leadership competency model or study identifies coaching behaviours if not coaching, as a critical skill for leadership success. In the current environment, where project managers at all levels are being asked to improve performance, reduce conflict, develop teams and even address performance issues in a constructive manner, Coaching is a critical leadership competency in the social system at work, especially with the expectations of the newer generations.
Coaching is not consulting, nor directing; not like sports coaching or “therapy-lite”. Our workshop immerses the Project manager in the best methods and techniques to effectively coach & mentor project teams/members.
The design (1-2 days) is hands-on, practical and immediately applicable to help individuals make immediate and extraordinary progress on project issues, personal challenges, or business goals. This life changing experience involves the development of a set of behaviours and tools that builds on a powerful framework used by the world’s most successful business & life Coaches—such as questioning & deep listening techniques, a coaching framework for any discussion, acknowledging & validating, coaching performance challenges, removing blocks & resistance, building presence, working respectfully emotions, a Coaches toolkit, and more. It also develops the capabilities of Mentoring as an extension of coaching practices
