Course description
This module is targeted towards healthcare professionals working as advanced practitioners and who aspire to work at consultant level. The module aims to advance a student's knowledge and understanding of the consultant practice framework to assist them in evaluating their professional role within the context of consultant practice ideals. It will assist students to develop consultant practitioner skills through analysis of their current professional role and skills and development of a portfolio of advanced practice.
The module will be introduced through a small number of lectures and tutorials within the academic environment where the student will be introduced to the concepts and potential components of advanced practice; critical reflection and portfolio development. The students will be encouraged to enter into discussion and debate the issues surrounding advanced practice. Exercises and discussion opportunities to direct student learning and assist in portfolio development will be provided through the University VLE.
