Course description

About the PGDip Advanced Practice

If you are already working as an advanced practitioner but do not have any formal postgraduate qualifications in this area, then this programme will allow you to develop your skills further and also provide you with the knowledge that underpins much of what you do. If you are not yet working in an advanced practice but you and your workplace are keen for you to develop into this kind of role, then this programme will help you to gain some of the practical and intellectual skills necessary for your new role. If you already have a Masters Degree, then this programme will enable you to develop the clinical competences necessary for an advanced practice role.

What you study

The programme will provide students with:- an opportunity for students from a range of professional backgrounds and practice environments to work with each other and learn from each other;- access to a broad range of modules to develop the skills of health care professionals as flexible practitioners able to provide and develop high quality services across all sectors of the healthcare economy;- integration of the local Yorkshire and Humber demands for advanced practice with professional body requirements;- a work based learning focus;- flexibility within modules for students to maximise the opportunities provided by their personal case load within their work environment;- a partnership between the University, the student and their work-based manager and work-based tutor;- assessment methods linked to the students' practice and work requirements.

Fully Funded to the NHS

Course are free to all NHS employees working in the area covered by the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority (see separate fees information) as the fees are paid by the strategic Health Authority.  However, you should always discuss any proposed study with your manager as they maintain interest in your educational and professional development.
