Course description

Practical Equine Ophthalmology - Day 1

With a focus on those tricky cases commonly seen in practice, this day starts with lectures covering how to diagnose and manage those nagging eye cases from indolent ulcers to persistent corneal oedema. Case discussions, exploring the topics of cataracts and fundic examination and other pre-purchase exam dilemmas, give you the chance to discuss these potentially stressful situations with your peers and the course tutors. You are also invited to bring your own cases for discussion on the day.

An afternoon practical session focusing on ophthalmic nerve blocks, sub-palpebral catheter placement and ocular ultrasound will leave you with the confidence to manage these cases well in the practice setting.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The workshop is suitable for those working at advanced practitioner level or studying for an RCVS CertAVP in equine internal medicine or equine practice.
