On this course, you will study in the purpose-built networking lab for the opportunity to develop your skills in this growing area. Make the most of our industry-standard networking and communications kit and further your working knowledge of security systems.
Key subject areas include: Fundamentals of computer systems; IT systems security and encryption; Website development; Planning and management of computing projects; Systems analysis and design; Virtualisation and Computer networking/managing and supporting systems. Alongside your course you will study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.
Successful students can progress into work in Networking Systems or in Technical Support. Further study options include a Foundation degree in a related field with a specialism – either here at West Herts College or at university. Over 80% of our students progress to university to study a BA/BSc (Hons) degree.
Suitability - Who should attend?
You should have 4 GCSEs (A*-C/4-9) including English and maths, or a Level 2 diploma in IT. You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.
