Course description

The Lead Practitioner in Adult Care will guide and inspire team members to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges. They will have achieved a level of self-development to be recognised as a lead practitioner within the care team, contributing to, promoting and sustaining a values-based culture at an operational level. A Lead Practitioner has a greater depth of knowledge and expertise of particular conditions being experienced by the user of services. They will have specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibilities which will allow them to lead in areas such as care needs assessment, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and enablement, telecare and assistive technology.They will be a coach and mentor to others and will have a role in assessing performance and quality of care delivery.

On this course, you will learn how to lead communication, inclusive practice, and health and safety in adult care settings, you will know how to facilitate planning to ensure positive outcomes for individuals, and person-centred assessment, to support wellbeing, and understand safeguarding and protection in adult care settings. You will learn how to work professionally, and how to work effectively with your team.

Training Course Content

  • All units are assessed by a designated assessor using a range of methods. This will include direct observations in the workplace and written assignments.
  • You will be required to complete 20% off the job training as part of this apprenticeship – details of this will be further discussed with an assessor from the team upon application to the course.
  • An End Point Assessment (EPA) is taken at the end of the study programme for this course. This includes written answers, observations, and professional discussions. Details of this will also be discussed with an assessor from the team upon application to the course.
  • You will need to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care alongside the apprenticeship – you won’t be able to complete the apprenticeship without having completed this diploma.
  • The learner must achieve a minimum of 70 credits to achieve the Diploma: 36 credits from the mandatory units, and a minimum of 34 credits from the optional units. At least 55 credits must be achieved at Level 4 or above.

  • • Duration of this course is a minimum of 18 months, and a maximum of 24 months.
  • • You will be responsible for buying your own resources/books etc.
