Course description
This one year psychology qualification is supported by many university as equivalent to an A Level. The main difference between the A Level and the BTEC is how they are assessed. The BTEC still has two exams but you also do a piece of research and some internal assessments. The BTEC focuses more on practical application of psychology and is less focused on exams than the A Level and thus will suit those wanting to pursue a more applied line of work.
You will study the different approaches in psychology, do your own small study while learning about research methods, health psychology and psychopathology. Psychology is a challenging choice but is an interesting and useful subject and excellent preparation for university.
Psychology is a popular choice at Farnham and students do well on this course. Psychology covers a wide range of interesting subjects, for example attachment and its links to day-care, memory and its links into criminal justice, stress and psychopathology and forensic psychology, which looks at criminal profiling, to name a few.

At least four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including Maths, English Language and a Science-based subject.

Research, discussion, writing and reading.
Homework: There will be regular mandatory assignments which will be set regularly and all students are expected to complete and hand in on a prearranged date.
