Course description

This A Level is a part of the Ecology Pathway and is not advertised on its own.

 The aims and objectives of this course are to:  

  • develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills related to environmental issues and the sustainable use of resources
  • understand the importance of basing decisions on reliable data which allows evidence-based analysis of environmental issues
  • understand how society makes decisions about environmental issues and how these contribute to the success of the economy and society

Suitability - Who should attend?

The entry requirement for this course is five GCSEs at grade 4 or higher.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

University courses such as Ecology and Environmental Science, lead to many opportunities for careers in renewable energy and managing the environment.

Global climate change, conservation efforts, and sustainability,

learning data analysis skills, how to develop arguments, and practical fieldwork skills.

  • Considering ethical issues in the treatment of humans, other organisms and the environment

Course delivery details

On successful completion you will gain a qualification in Environmental Science and when completed with others, a qualification in Ecology.
