Course description
The course will allow students to develop and practise the knowledge skills and behaviours required for a career in the construction industry
All 16-19-year olds on full-time study programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade 4 in these subjects.
Tutors from the industry with vast experience as Bricklayers. Well-equipped industry standard workshops supported by a team of technicians.

Suitability - Who should attend?
At least 3 GCSE grade 2 or above, including Maths and English Language as well as a commitment to the course. These requirements may be assessed case by case at the discretion of the curriculum staff.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You could progress on to City & Guilds Level 2 Bricklaying Diploma or an Apprenticeship providing you meet the entry requirements
Training Course Content
Topics include:
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
- Carry out blocklaying activities
- Carry out bricklaying activities
- Carry out cavity walling activities
- Contribute to setting out and building of masonry structures up to damp proof course.
Course delivery details
This course is a mixture of theory and practical hands on experience. Homework: Homework and self-study will be set at tutors' discretion, with materials available on the College VLE
Expenses
You will need safety footwear and normal study equipment. There is a portfolio supplied that has to be completed by the candidate with their practical and theoretical evidence
