What you’ll learn
Encouraging Birds into your Gardens:
Firstly, in this course we will look at how you can maintain your garden for a range of bird species. This will include learning:
- how to provide food for birds at key times of the year
- what to plant in your garden with birds in mind
- ways to identify of common garden birds
- the types of nest boxes to provide habitats
Encouraging Insects into your Garden:
Secondly, insects like bees and butterflies are indicators of the health of our environment. This course also involves managing gardens to be`insect havens’ through learning:
- the life cycles of insects and other invertebrates
- how to identify common garden invertebrates
- ways to record garden insects
- practical activities to improve your garden for insects
Planting for Wildlife:
Finally, we will look at plants you can grow for an attractive garden by gaining knowledge on:
- key plant terminology
- the range of animal niches that plants provide in the garden
- how you can create structures which benefits wildlife
- a range of native and non-native species through practical activities
Course delivery details
