Course description
The Electrical Installation Level 2 course offers sound basic training for prospective electricians who need to know the techniques, technology, science and health and safety required for electrical installation work.
This programme has a large practical element to give you the experience and skills required by the industry including installation, inspection and testing of electrical circuits and systems. This is the best route for those who want to work as electricians but who cannot find an apprenticeship.
Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be able to progress onto an apprenticeship within the electrical industry.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You must have four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English language, science, and maths at grade 4. You must demonstrate self-motivation and a keen interest in the subject area.
Training Course Content
You will learn the techniques, craft skills, technology and related science required for electrical installation work. You also cover the regulations and health and safety requirements governing electrical installation processes including knowledge of the organisation and structure of the industry within which these are carried out.
Course delivery details
You will learn through a mix of practical activities and classroom theory with ongoing assessments and assignments.
During the first few weeks, initial assessments will take place to make sure you and the level of work are suitably matched. There will be written assignments and online exams for each of the units. Further assessment is by completing a number of major practical assignments in the college's electrical workshops. They are carried out under exam conditions.
