Course description
This Level 3 qualification will provide you with essential knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the active leisure industry, including fitness instructing and personal training. You will broaden your ability from the Level 2 Diploma to enhance and develop your career prospects and increase your earning potential.

- Strength and conditioning gym with lifting platforms, resistance machines, full dumbbell rack, cardio equipment (including a Watt bike) and 20 metre track.

Suitability - Who should attend?
At least four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including maths and English, or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above. You will also need to pass the reference and interview process.
Training Course Content
Units include (subject to change):
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise professionals
- Professional practice for exercise professionals
- Exercise, health, lifestyle consultation and management
- Planning and Instructing gym-based exercise
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health (70% MCQ exam)
- Applying the principles of nutrition to and activity and exercise programme
- Programming and delivering personal training sessions
- Business acuity for personal trainers
All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to work towards a grade C in GCSE English and maths, if they have not already attained this. They might mean they will retake GCSE English and maths or undertake Functional Skills each year of their course, until they complete their studies.
Course delivery details
On successful completion you will be awarded the Level 3 Combined Diploma in Personal Training, recognised by CIMSPA.
