Course description
The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed nail technician.
You will master technical skills including manicures and pedicures, nail art, e-file and nail enhancement using UV gels or acrylics.
You will develop all the skills and knowledge needed to offer outstanding treatments, gain employment within the industry or manage/start your own business.
Once fully completed, this qualification will allow you to obtain insurance, providing you with the confidence to work independently within the industry.
Please note: you can study either gel or acrylic, but not both.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The minimum entry requirements are GCSE grade 3 in English and maths.
You will need to purchase:
- Nail Technology Kit (recommended for home practise)
- Activate Learning Uniform
Basic tools, products, and kits can be supplied for on-campus use.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You could progress to:
- L3 Nail Technology
- Beauty Therapy, Media Make-up, and Hairdressing courses.
- Employment within the industry.
- Self-employment, beginning your own business.

This qualification is based on the nail services National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading professional bodies (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT)) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a nail technician.
Course delivery details
You will be assessed in a number of ways:
- Online theory tests
- Observations and oral questioning
- Practical assessments and assignments
- Portfolio evidence
Models:
You will need to have your own models for the practical assessments.
At all other times during your study, you will be expected to practise on peers within your group and/or on a practice hand.
