Suitability - Who should attend?
You must: Have GCSE grade A* - C in Maths and a Science Subject. Ideally, you will also have GCSE grade A* - C in English. Be able to prove that your university choices will accept a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in place of GCSEs. This only applies if you do not have the required GCSEs but you do have Functional Skills at Level 2. Undertake relevant work experience/placement. You must achieve at least Level 2 in your initial assessment for English and at least Level 1 in your initial assessment for Maths. This does not apply if you have GCSE certificates in these subjects showing passes at A* - C taken in the last 5 years. Maths and English Qualifications If you need Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths or Science we recommend that you achieve these qualifications before applying for an Access to HE programme. You can study for these Level 2 qualifications at Barking & Dagenham College.
