Course description

The BSRIA Guide: Design Framework for Building Services (BG 6) sets the industry standard for consultants, contractors, and their clients, to clarify the extent of project design activity and deliverables.

It encourages efficient collaborative working between building services designers, architects, structural engineers, and building supply chains.

This course will provide delegates with an informative overview of the BG 6 framework and an understanding of how it can be applied in real-world scenarios.

If you are a designer, a contractor, or client, and would like to understand how to better synergise with the other project disciplines, this course is for you. BG 6/2018 Design Framework for Building Services will enable you to negotiate a successful outcome for your project.

  • Explore how to divide projects into stages, the relationship between stages, and the different construction procurement routes.

  • Background and introduction to BG 6/2018 and the key stages
  • Alignment with RIBA Plan of Work 2020 and other disciplines
  • Transition of design responsibilities between parties and the effect of procurement route
  • Using BG 6/2018 to specify activities, outputs and deliverables and its use in contracts
  • Key tools within BG 6/2018 and how to use them
  • Practical sessions in the use of Appendix A and B Proformas
