Course description
This programme has been designed to give you the enhanced skills and knowledge you need to work in the Carpentry industry. With teaching and instruction from specialist staff you will gain knowledge and learn a wide variety of practical skills in the area of:
- First and second fix operations
- Interpreting construction drawings and information to produce timber products
- Set out, prepare and erect structural carcassing operations
- Repair and maintain timber products
- Prepare and use fixed and portable power tools
Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced
throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with
specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade C or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements.
In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers and universities. At CRC we call this package of skills the Passport to Success. Core skills, Employability, Personal Learning, Social and Community skills, together with your Specialist skills and qualification will give you a distinct advantage when it is time for you to progress to employment or further and higher education.

- Maths and English skills needed in day to day life
- Self-study and research
- Team working to complete projects
You can also develop your entrepreneurial skills through charitable and community projects which run throughout the
year and are led by students.

Continuing Studies
including;
- Further full time training onto the L3 Diploma in Site Carpentry or the L3 Diploma in Bench Joinery.
- Gaining employment within the Carpentry and Joinery industry and undertaking an apprenticeship scheme to gain further qualifications and experience.
