Course description

This course is an introduction to dyslexia awareness. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their understanding of dyslexia, whether for professional or personal reasons. It will be particularly relevant for teaching assistants and learning support staff with little or no prior knowledge of dyslexia.
The sessions for cohort 1 will be taught at our Huntingdon Campus. Cohorts 2 and 3 sessions will take place at our Cambridge Campus. It is important that, as a minimum, the first and last session are attended face to face. Accommodation can be made for accessing the other sessions online.
Participants will learn about key characteristics of dyslexia and, in particular, the impact this has within education. Participants will have opportunities for sharing practical strategies for supporting students with dyslexia within the classroom. You will be given a brief overview of the assessment process and information about where to direct people with dyslexia for further advice and guidance. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence built up throughout the course.
