Course description
You will have the opportunity to enter competitions, listen to guest speakers and go on trips to hair and beauty exhibitions.
You will also be required to study and achieve further qualifications in English and Maths to assist in your personal development if not previously attained at Grade 3 or above.
Your interview and the college Welcome events, will give us the opportunity to get to know you better and ensure you have a clear understanding of the career path and course and ensure that you enrol on the right level to suit your needs.
If successful in gaining a place you will be required to attend Taster Days during the summer before the start of your course. You will also carry out a practical aptitude test
Kit and Uniform - You will need to purchase a kit and uniform before the start of the programme, the Level 3 mandatory kit and uniform will cost around £250 subject to change slightly with inflation. There is also up to £100 of optional extra’s and further details will be given to you at the Welcome Event.
Work placement in the commercial environment is part of your course, which will see you working on fee paying clients. This helps you to develop real life working skills and employability
On this Level 3 programme you may also be required to take part in our Industry Placement Programme, which is set for 2 days in addition to your study programme from October until the end of June, totalling 315 hours. All students are assigned an Industry Placement Coordinator who will work with you and support you through your placement journey. All placements are unpaid and should be meaningful placements that are relevant to the students study programme

Suitability - Who should attend?
Entry onto this programme will require a prior Level 2 hairdressing qualification, and will be based on a successful interview and assessment of your commitment and ability to meet the demands of the course the expectations of employers in the industry, including good attendance and punctuality. Individuals will be considered on their suitability, references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the industry. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

A position in a salon as a stylist, you could apply for colour technician roles depending on the level of experience gained during this programme / in work placement. The industry provides a fascinating and rewarding career if you are a practical and creative individual and enjoy working with people. It is a fashion industry where creativity and artistry combine with technical skills to provide a service for clients.
