Course description
If you are progressing from the Level 1 course in Hairdressing and Beauty or looking to start a career in Hairdressing this is the course for you. Upon completion of the Level 2 in hairdressing you will be required to progress to the Level 3 in Hairdressing before you will be a fully qualified Hairdresser.
- Client Consultation and promoting products and services
- Shampooing and Conditioning the hair and scalp
- Cutting and finishing Women's and Men's Hair
- Setting and Blow-drying using a range of techniques
- Curling and Straightening techniques
- Dressing Hair using plaiting and twisting techniques
Alongside your qualification you will study or further develop your English and Maths skills to assist in your career and personal development and have the opportunity to enter competitions, listen to guest speakers and join trips to hair and beauty exhibitions.
Your interview and the college Welcome events, will give us the opportunity to get to know you better and ensure you have a clear understanding of the career path and course and ensure that you enrol on the right level to suit your needs.
If successful in gaining a place you will be required to attend Taster Days during the summer before the start of your course. You will also carry out a practical aptitude test.
Kit and Uniform - You will need to purchase a kit and uniform before the start of the programme, the Level 2 mandatory kit and uniform will cost around £450 subject to change slightly with inflation. There is also up to £100 of optional extra’s and further details will be given to you at the Welcome Event.
Work placement in the commercial environment is part of your course, which helps you to develop real life working skills and employability.
On this Level 2 programme you may also be required to take part in our Industry Placement Programme, which is set for 2 days in addition to your study programme from October until the end of June, totalling 315 hours. All students are assigned an Industry Placement Coordinator who will work with you and support you through your placement journey. All placements are unpaid and should be meaningful placements that are relevant to the students study programme
