Course description

NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying has been designed for highly experienced Bricklaying Operatives in the construction industry.

This qualification gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your Bricklaying expertise, skills, knowledge, and competence without attending to any formal training in classrooms or workshop settings.

Suitability - Who should attend?

NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying – Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, associated extensive experience in bricklaying within the construction sector is essential to achieving this qualification.

Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate they can meet the requirements of this qualification before registration through our Initial Assessment process.

Training Course Content

Mandatory Units Group (All units must be completed)

  1. Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Area in the Workplace
  2. Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
  3. Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
  4. Confirming the General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  5. Erecting Masonry Structures in the Workplace (At Least 1 Unit Endorsements: Brick or Local Material)
  6. Setting Out to Form Masonry Structures in the Workplace (At Least 4 Unit Endorsements): Straight (180 degrees); Right Angles (90 degrees); Obtuse Angles (between 90 and 180 degrees including batters); Acute Angles (between 0 and 90 degrees); Curves on Plan, Curves in Elevation; Openings
  7. Erecting Masonry Cladding in the Workplace (At Least 1 Unit Endorsement): Brick and Block; Local Material + One Endorsements From: Pre-Erected Timber Frame; Pre-Erected Concrete; Pre-Erected Steel; Existing Masonry
  8. Erecting Masonry to Form Architectural and Decorative Structures in the Workplace (At Least 1 Unit Endorsements): Brick and Block; Local Material + Three Endorsements From: Arches (Rough ringed, Axed or Gauged); Chimney Stack; Fireplace; Wall with Flush, Projecting or Decorative Features; Wall Curved on Plan; Wall Curved in Elevation; Wall Splayed on Plan.

  • Erecting Thin Joint Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  • Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  • Installing Drainage in the Workplace
  • Installing and Forming Specialist Masonry Elements in the Workplace

Course delivery details

Duration

Registered candidates will enjoy our dedicated assessor support for a period of 6 months for qualifications at levels 2 – 5, and up to 12 months for qualifications levels 6 – 7. However, most candidates complete this programme within 2-4 months, depending on the motivation and availability of the learner.

How to achieve

Your assessment will be carried out via on-site assessment at your workplace, on a live site by one of our specialist NVQ Assessor(s). The number of the site visits and interactions with your allocated assessor depends on your motivation, availability, and experience.

The entire process will be coordinated by using a variety of communication methods and evidence collection processes, to suit the individual learner needs.

Successful candidates will also be awarded a Gold CSCS Card for Advanced Craftspersons at the end of their programme with us.
