Course description

This course is one of our eight Core Behaviours Introductory Programmes, which aim to provide you with the defining behaviours of our profession.

Situational decision-making is about making effective and pragmatic decisions or choices and considering the specific situation or context, thereby avoiding a &'one-size-fits-all' approach. This course will help you to identify different options, along with the benefits and risks associated with them, and their alignment to professional principles and values.

Through cutting-edge learning content, you will explore the four aspects of situational decision-making. You'll discover the parts played by evidence and context in our decision-making and how to balance opportunity and risk with every option.

Given the ever-changing nature of work, any decisions made will need to remain flexible enough to adapt to new insight, circumstances or changes, and you should be diligent about evaluating their impact in order to inform future practice. You will develop the knowledge to analyse whether decisions are resulting in the desired outcomes, and how this informs future decision-making. This will support you to adapt to changing circumstances, enabling you to provide a quick and effective response.

Throughout the course, you'll be encouraged to take part in reflective activities to help embed your learning into your day-to-day practice. You can also access a community of peers where you can share knowledge and experience with others, whilst developing connections.
