Course description

Hydrogen is experiencing an unprecedented momentum, driven by climate-friendly and energy-safety policies. However, due to its peculiar physical-chemical properties, material compatibility issues arise: hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen permeation, mechanical integrity at cryogenic temperatures and water vapour corrosion.

In this course, Cranfield University has brought together experts in this constantly evolving field to deliver an intense 4-day course. The course, established in 2023, focuses on understanding the fundamental principles and testing methodologies for material challenges faced by all potential components of the hydrogen supply chain: production, storage & distribution and use.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Subject matter experts and speakers ensure the course's relevance to novice and expert alike. As the course is introductory on Hydrogen supply chain technologies and focused on Hydrogen-related material challenges, it is specifically relevant to delegates involved in material selection/design for Hydrogen applications wishing to acquire fundamental state-of-the-art knowledge on the subject. Delegates from academia and a broad variety of industries would benefit from the course, including but not limited to: metal suppliers, equipment manufacturers, service providers, aerospace, automotive or more generically transport industries and policymakers.
