Course description

Brachycephalic patients are becoming increasingly popular in the UK and, with their increasing prevalence, the need for management of breed-associated conditions is becoming a daily occurrence in practice.

This full day of interactive lectures and discussion will aim to review the common conditions suffered by brachycephalic patients and the challenges they bring. We will discuss all aspects of care from the routine consultation and hospitalisation of these potentially challenging patients, to the emergency management of the collapsed dog. Delegates are encouraged to bring case examples for discussion and the day will aim to focus on the day-to-day situations faced in practice.

Specific areas to be covered:

  • The brachycephalic patient – where did it all go wrong?
  • Common brachycephalic conditions
  • Medical and surgical intervention for common conditions
  • Nursing of the hospitalised brachycephalic patient
