With major improvements in feline medicine, more senior cats are now being seen at the veterinary practice for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Senior clinics for healthy senior pets can be challenging and sometimes limiting for the veterinary nurse. Therefore, as well as offering nurse consultations to healthy pets, the veterinary nurse can be hugely involved in monitoring pets with long term illnesses. This day of lectures will look at the classical running of a senior feline clinic and discuss how the veterinary nurse can adapt this idea to a monitoring clinic, therefore, maximising the nurse’s involvement. The day will look at specific diseases seen in elderly cats such as chronic renal disease, diabetes mellitus and osteoarthritis, and demonstrate how the nurse can play an essential role in the successful management of these cases.
