VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments -V4CLAS
The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulse light and laser treatments.
The knowledge and skills gained in this unit include preparing for and providing laser and intense pulsed light treatment to treat skin imperfections including telangiectasia, spider naevi blood spots, fine lines, photo ageing, uneven pigmentation, colour and texture on the face, neck, chest, hands and other body areas with lesions suitable for treatment.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists over the age of 18.
This qualification is based on beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and it is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard-setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.
Entry onto this qualification is via previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline prior to undertaking this qualification. We will ensure that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.
If you do not have Level 3 Beauty Therapy qulification you will need to take the extra qulification of Anatomy and Physiology along side this couse, which we provide at a fee of £100
This qualification has been specifically designed for students over the age of 18 and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment. You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser an light treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon. Training Course Content
You will need to have knowledge of safe working practice and controlling hazards in the salon. You will be able
to identify skin conditions and those clients suitable for intense light and laser system treatments.
The units covered are:
- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
- Management of health, safety and security in the salon.
- Laser and light treatments for hair removal
- Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation laser and light Treatments for hair reduction.
This unit is about reducing hair growth using intense light and laser systems. You will need to have knowledge of safe working practice and controlling hazards in the salon. You will be able to identify hair and skin conditions and those clients suitable for laser and light system treatments. To carry out this unit you will need to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout
Course delivery details
The course runs over 5 days.
It can be studied 9am -5pm Monday to Friday or one day a week for 5 weeks 9am-5pm.

You will study onsite in the college, in the new facilities that include stste-of-the-art equipment and through some online self study. There will also be case studies and assignments.
VTCT courses are assessed and quality assured by centre staff. Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding.
For practical elements, you will be observed by your assessor. All your work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence and cross-referenced to requirements listed in this record of assessment book.
