Course description
The planning system is tasked with appraising, management and reducing the risk of flooding through regional and local development plans and development management. A key part of this role is flood risk assessment through modelling. This course will provide professionals with an improved understanding of flood models, maps, and key issues to consider when using such tools to aid decision-making. Participants will also gain an increased appreciation of the social aspects of flooding and will learn about new approaches to vulnerability, risk communication and resilience engineering. Note that this course is not a technical training course on flood modelling packages.
