The Mechanics of International Trade Finance
- The conflicting needs of exporter and importer and how trade finance provides an essential risk mitigation and funding tool to bridge this gap
- The different types and examples of trade documentation; the drive and challenges towards digitalisation
- The financing of collections and how to optimally structure bank aval for the exporter, importer, avalising bank and financier
- How to structure letters of credit, standby credits and demand guarantees to mitigate risk
- The use and operation of specialist types of letters of credit to include transferable, back to back, revolving, synthetic, red and green clause, reinstateable, sustainable shipment and non-back issuer credits
- How to determine the extent and nature of structured trade finance (self-liquidating and partially structured facilities) and the use of trade loans to fund different types of risk exposure
- The financing of invoice receiveables supported by credit insurance and standby credits
- The techniques of payables finance to include approved trade payables finance, (also known as supply chain finance or reverse factoring), pre-shipment and goods in transit finance
- The risk evaluation and financing of commodities: pre-export finance, warehouse finance and borrowing base
