The International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management is the ideal qualification for anyone looking for a solid foundation in the theory and practice of effective risk management. Our revised syllabus and assessments have been developed to meet the demands and needs of risk and business professionals in the new risk era.
The qualification provides you with an:
- Introduction to the principles, concepts, and practice of risk and risk management
- Understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of risk management within any type of organization
- Foundation of current risk management thinking, standards and regulations across the world
- Entry route to the International Diploma in Risk Management
If you already hold a risk management qualification you may be exempt from the International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management and may apply directly to become a Certificate Member of IRM contact the IRM to find out more.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The International Certificate in Risk Management is an entry-level qualification (equivalent to a degree) suitable for anyone looking to develop their risk management knowledge and skills.
It is of particular benefit to:
- new risk management practitioners looking for a formal professional qualification;
- those looking to demonstrate their experience and expertise with a globally accepted and recognised risk qualification
- those looking to progress to the postgraduate International Diploma in Risk Management;
- those qualified in a related or complementary discipline needing to expand their risk management knowledge.
These disciplines may include; auditing, accounting, banking, construction, governance, energy, engineering, financial services, health, infrastructure, insurance, legal, logistics, oil and gas, public services, project management, and HSE.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Completion of the certificate will mean that you become a Certificate Member (IRMCert) and are able to progress on to the International Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management; this is the first step of the journey to become a Certified Member of the IRM (CMIRM).

Principles of risk and risk management
An introduction to the principles and concepts of risk and risk management, it explores the history of risk management to help students gain an understanding of current drivers of enterprise risk management, as well as learn why risk management principles and frameworks are the foundation of effective risk management implementation.
Practice of risk management
Exploring the impact of the global business environment on risk, it examines issues that are relevant to specific sectors and geographical areas, and the needs and examines the different risk management approaches to assess the core competencies risk professionals and individuals require to embed risk management in an organisation.

Discounted rates are available for groups of 10+ employees from the same organisation.
Continuing Studies
Successful graduates of the Certificate will be able to progress on to IRM's International Diploma in Risk Enterprise Management, gaining exemption from the first two modules.
