This creative Hair and Beauty qualification is ideal for learners looking for a career in Hair or Beauty or a combined Hair and Beauty career. This level is ideal if you are new to the Hair and Beauty Industry or want to develop your knowledge and skills in order to progress in your career. Each unit will enable learners to gain an understanding of the hairdressing and beauty therapy industry and the vocational skills and knowledge required for employment. During this 1 year course - learners will study the following content: Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, Set and dress hair, Colour and lighten hair, Advise and consult clients, Blow dry and style hair, Cut Ladies Hair, Health, Safety & Hygiene, Style hair with electrical equipment, Anatomy and physiology, Hair removal, Facial and skin analysis, Manicure, Pedicure, Lash/brow treatments and Make-up.
This qualification will allow learners to progress into employment or onto the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing or the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Beauty Therapy. A clear disciplinary record and at least 90% attendance is required to progress onto the Level 3 courses. This qualification could also lead to an apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Beauty.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students must be 16 at the start of the course and have three GCSEs at grade C or above to include English and Maths. Good IT skills are essential and access to a computer and internet from outside of College will be required. A satisfactory school reference is required together with a successful interview and diagnostic screening prior to enrolment.
