Course description

Gain hands-on experience of drafting charitable objects and other essential aspects of charity law with this comprehensive in-person seminar. It is a practical introduction, including case studies, which will take delegates through the essentials.


How do you decide what kind of charity to form? What are the consequences of dissolution of a charity? These questions and many more will all be answered by our expert speaker. Other points covered will include the points to watch out for at trustee meetings, along with the common pitfalls associated with charity tax - and how to avoid them.

Training Course Content

Introduction

This two-day in-person seminar is a hands on introduction to charity law with case studies and practical exercises. There will be a high degree of delegate participation.

The course aims to provide a broad coverage of the key themes in charity law for registered charities including the legal framework, 2022 legislation, the choice of form and the key governance issues that many charities face.

It looks at the life cycle of charity, from formation and growth through to potential eventual merger or dissolution, including the consequences of the various choices.

  • The different forms of charity, and factors involved in choosing legal form, or whether a non charitable form may be preferable
