What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • IHT residence nil rate band (‘RNRB’) - options to try to get some or all of this
  • IHT nil rate band (‘NRB’) discretionary trusts - exploring when and how to use NRB discretionary trusts and consideration of obtaining the RNRB
  • Effective use of exemptions and reliefs in lifetime and will planning
  • Lower rate (36%) of IHT if 10% of net estate to charity - understanding the component parts, and merger of components, along with the great under-used potential of the lower rate
  • Deeds of variations - more complex planning opportunities
  • SDLT - when to worry about it
